Good Music vs. Bad Music

You may think that there exist many different genres of music when really there are only 2 categories: good music & bad music. Oh, sure, you can classify music, however, within these sub-types exists plenty of bad music, & some good music. This is because good music is harder to find than bad music. In fact if you live on this planet you will hear bad music a lot more than you hear good music. This is because in general most of the popular music out there happens to be bad music – strange isn’t it? Why is bad music popular? Well, for one thing, most people have no taste. I’m generalizing here, but most people are fickle and will listen to what’s popular because it’s ‘hot’ right now.

Here is some bad music:
Taylor Swift: writes her own songs! Too bad the songs blow ass. She probably should have played in the WNBA. She really can’t sing that well, you ever notice that when she’s live?
Lady Gaga: give me a break. An Elton John wannabe with less talent; nice outfits though. Shock value goes only so far, steak head.
Kanye West: douche. The only time he can actually sing is when it’s through that auto-tune programmed microphone. Next time I want to hear C-3PO sing a terrible song with no discernible melody, I’ll listen to Kanye.
Justin Bieber: He’s got the whole package – except the song writing ability. The songs are terrible. Nice hair cut though. Wait till he grows some balls & his voice drops. Pull up your pants, dick-head.

Here is some good music:
Michael Jackson: forget his lifestyle, his mistakes, & yes he was a freak, but you can’t say he didn’t possess something special. He had more talent than Swift, Gaga, Kanye & Bieber put together.
Johnny Cash: real songs written by a real man. Great stuff. He influenced a lot more artists than you realize.
Joni Mitchell: as song writer’s go, one of the best. As singers go, one of the best. She’d put Ms. Swift to shame.
The Beatles: come on, I had to mention them, & don’t say something stupid like ‘they were just a boy band of their generation”. You really want to try and compare The Beatles to N’Sync or The Backstreet Boys? The Beatles were on a different level; they were all very talented musicians, composers, arrangers, producers, singers, & cultural icons. Next time you think they were just a boy band, throw on ‘Abbey Road’ & listen to it from start to finish.

But what do I know, I'm just a dinosaur.....

Both of your comments are good....for sure, I have respect for Dre mainly as a producer - even Kanye (as a producer) - you can't argue with the fact that he can make music that the people want to hear and that is success measured objectively. As for the subjective argument, you are right - my views are entirely subjective on music.....music is effective if it touches someone for sure but it's just not what I consider to be 'good' music, in my subjective opinion.

Lmao @ steakhead!
Whoa whoa whoa, lets not bring c3po into this, because if c3po made an album it would easily crush anything kanye did! I want to add Dr. Dre to your list of good musicians. Not because of any rap stuff he worked on though, if you check out everything he worked on besides rap, i'm sure you'd be impressed!

I dig your rants but this one is a stretch. Music taste is completely subjective. I personally would have to agree with your music choice, but even a completely simple and "shitty" Taylor Swift song is capable of bringing out emotions in some stupid 14 year old girl. As long as a song has some personal meaning to someone out there I would say that it is effective.
