Why are you making this a competition?

We are like sisters. Your mom let me stay at you place for a year so I could finish school when my mother decided to move. You and I didn't end up being as close as your mother and I. I'm sure this has bothered you for a long time. I have never tried to compete for her love. I have backed off when I thought it was "family time". Now it's a different story. I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years, you've been with yours a year and a half. He proposes to you. I am happy but jealous, I've been with my boyfriend so long and it hasn't happened. "what's wrong with me?" But I smile and congratulate you and ask you what your plans are. I smile every time you flaunt your ring. (very often) My boyfriend proposes to me 7 months later and no congratulations, just a " yay! I bet you'll get married first!" I don't give two shits if we get married today or 10 years from now. I don't care what my ring looks like ( I haven't even seen mine yet, i was proposed to with a ring pop ) I'm just happy that my boyfriend wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Just knowing this is a huge weight off my shoulders for some reason.
