My Rant is:

Worried and Frustrated

I love the snow. It's so white and fluffy and fun to play in. Plus, because of it, I haven't had to go to school for the last three days. Lol, a few inches of snow and Seattle completely shuts down - understandable though, considering all the monstrous hills we have. However, as much as I love snow days and building snowmen, I can't help but to worry and worry.

My parents own and work their own little convenience store. It's a thirty minute drive away, and the whole trip there are on slippery local roads, not large highways that are cleaned up and salted. My parents have been currently stuck there for the last four days. I have no siblings, only my German Shepard, Lu. For the last four days I've been stuck at home alone, but luckily, my neighbors have been looking out for me. Lucky because I burn everything I try to cook. I'm worried because currently, it is 25 degrees Fahrenheit and my parents are sleeping in sleeping bags on the ground in a store with no heating, and have been only eating instant ramen for the last four days.

I've been feeling so anxious these last few days, but have been unable to talk to anyone about it. Whenever I try to mention my worries, my friends are already in hyper-mode, talking about how great it is that there hasn't been any school for the last few days. They talk about how fun it is to sled, ski, and throw snowballs. It's not like they're intentionally trying to ignore me, but they're just so preoccupied to even sense my mood. It kind of frustrates me that they're going around building giant snow penises while my parents and hundreds of other people are stressed and worried about the ice, snow and work.

I understand that it's fine to have fun, but all my friends are now almost or already eighteen years old. Why can't they be serious for a second and listen to their friend, or try to help their parents put chains on the car. Am I wrong? Am I just being obsessively oversensitive and prissy?

you'll be okay! you're parents are going to be alright! your a kid still enjoy the lack of responsibility while you can, or don't. but when you fret about something that you can't change then your only hurting yourself. there are people in place to make sure that you and your parents will be okay, they work hard and tirelessly and receive shitty paychecks because they believe that doing the right thing is more important. go out, make another snow man and throw snowballs with the other kids, go inside when you're cold and if you find yourself worried just remember that it'll be over soon and things will be back to normal.
