My Rant is:
Young, skinny girls rule not only our minds, but our whole way of life
A long time ago, tan, skinny girls were considered underfed, unhealthy, and had to work long hours in the hot sun to live. They were the lower-class. The wealthy, high-class people didn't have to work outside and were well fed, so they were pale, on the larger side, and were considered beautiful, and they were happy with that. Today, our idea of a beautiful woman has totally changed, but for what?
I am a white girl who is five feet and one inch tall, weighing in at 163 pounds. I wear size 15 jeans, size 13 dresses, and size 38A bras. I prefer extra large shirts because they are just more comfortable. I consider myself curvy and am quite healthy. I cannot wear the brands that some of my friends wear because stores don't always carry my size, and some of the ones that do have fitted them so much that they make me look pregnant. It makes me feel fat, ugly, and ruins any confidence I walked into the store with.
I cannot STAND seeing little stick-like girls running around with their features exaggerated with too much silicon, botox, and caked on makeup. They look fake, and quite frankly, ugly. I think that if a woman has to surgically change her body for a man to be happy with it, then the aforementioned man should be slapped hard across the face.
In China, age equals wisdom. There, age is beautiful and respected. Here, we do everything to keep from aging. I plan to grow old gracefully. I vow to not complain about wrinkles, just like I don't complain about zits. It's all a part of life, and it doesn't change who or what I am. I think that we should respect, honor, love, and treasure our wonderful elderly, who are the reason that our lives are so blessed, let alone the fact that they are the reason we exist at all.
***Disclaimer*** Please understand that I am not condoning obesity, I am just speaking of healthy women who are pressured into losing weight in unsafe and/or extreme manners.
The picture is of me before a talent show and dance. That's a girl with no botox, no plastic surgery, and a little extra fat that thinks she's pretty gorgeous. If you take nothing else from this rant, please remember that natural is beautiful.
